Yakushima Island Tourism Board x Ulysses Aoki

Overview

Ulysses Aoki played as the main cast for a 20 minute documentary to promote the Island of Yakushima, Japan (2020). The promotional video was centered around myself discussing sustainability and environmental topics with local community members, and going on a journey as a photographer.

Outcome

The documentary video was a major success reaching more than 5 million cumulative views over multiple versions.

The video is also played in media displays throughout Japan, and has won an award for best tourism film in Japan for year 2021.

 

Hodinkee x IWC x Ulysses Aoki

Overview

Ulysses had a section on Hodinkee Japan Magazine volume 2 (2021) about his experience with the IWC Big Pilot’s watch. There were 4 pages of photos and words by Ulysses, as well as a bio.

Outcome

Hodinkee magazine had its own independent booths in art sections of major bookstores such as Tsutaya, and currently live in the houses of many watch enthusiasts.

The section/project itself has had its own legacy, as this section of the magazine devoted to internationally recognized candid photographers is currently ongoing, the section for volume 3 being casted by Ulysses in collaboration with Hodinkee Japan.

 
 

Plan C x Perimetro x Ulysses Aoki

Outcome

The project outcome was shown on official Plan C pages and social media, and the exhibition, which consisted of project images printed on fabrics was a hit event for Milan fashion week.

Overview

Ulysses Aoki was involved in a project by Plan C. The brand collaborated with Perimetro and involved 10 representative artists to paint different images of the current state of Japan.

Ulysses Aoki’s photographs were printed in a special edition magazine, exhibited in Milan fashion week (2021), and was printed on a capsule T-shirt collection by Plan C.
